Brown Sugar

What's the best way to soften hardened brown sugar? Don't buy it in the first place! It's one of those ingredients that's an unnecessary added expense and takes up space.

It's ridiculously easy to make your own, as needed. Mix molasses into granulated sugar with a fork. Looks just like the "real thing." Well, it ought to, since that's exactly what commercially prepared brown sugar is.

The ratio is as follows:

Light Brown Sugar = 1 cup granulated sugar + 1 tablespoon molasses
Dark Brown Sugar = 1 cup granulated sugar + 2 tablespoons molasses
